UPDATED: Obama campaign to open new office in Radford

Updated at 4:30 p.m., Saturday. The Obama campaign initially sent the wrong address. It’s 513 East Main Street, not West Main Street.

The Obama For America campaign will open its third office in southwestern Virginia (if you include Roanoke in that region) on Saturday.

The new office will be at 513 West East Main Street in Radford.

It joins regional campaign offices in Roanoke and Blacksburg, as well as those in Lynchburg, Danville and Martinsville.

Campaign spokesman Dan Crawford wrote in an email, “The office will further expand the campaign’s grassroots operation in every corner of the commonwealth and serve as a community hub for local campaign activities, including phone banking, canvassing and voter registration.”

Certainly it appears the campaign continues to make a play for western Virginia.

And if you’re wondering just how far the new Obama campaign office is from Crumb & Get It Cookie Company, which famously declined an “unscheduled” campaign event with Vice President Joe Biden, it’s 1.3 0.9 miles, according to Google maps.

Guess he’s not taking VA for granted, now is he?

  2. Sandi Saunders | September 21, 2012 at 1:27 pm

I actually drove up to Radford after that little flap, I was sure expecting “more”. It reminded me of Vinton.

  3. Kathie | September 21, 2012 at 2:04 pm

You drove up there for no reason except to see a small business owner? Wow… was that a green thing to do? I am sure you drive a Chevy volt though, right?

when you ‘expected more’ and it reminded you of Vinton – how should Vintonites take that? Are you better than them, do you live in a nicer place? Does that mean that you discount people who aren’t like you – say Vinton for instance? Now, that isn’t the way lefties think is it?

  4. dave | September 21, 2012 at 2:33 pm

Wonder if Crumb abd Get It will go for the obvious PR move and comp them some cookies for official opening activities. He was smart enough to parlay the biden visit into a ton of free advertising. Now he could get a lot more!

  5. Sandi Saunders | September 21, 2012 at 2:55 pm

It is none of your business why I drove up there or what I drove to get there. The main drag in Radford is tiny like Vinton. Vintonites may take that any way they like. You may as well. Knock yourself out.

  6. Kathie | September 21, 2012 at 3:36 pm

((giggle giggle giggle)) So, the lefties can tell everyone else what size soda they can buy, how many miles a vehicle can get to a gallon, how much salt they can use, what restaurants can offer and insist on how much they care for our environment but for goodness sakes, don’t inquire about their own personal green habits – why, that’s none of your bizwhacks. Teeheeeeeheeeeheeeee.

  7. Sandi Saunders | September 21, 2012 at 5:37 pm

Wow, you are certainly easily amused. When have I told you or anyone else anything you could or could not do? Broad brush much? Rest easy, I do not drive a “gas guzzler”.

  8. Kathie | September 21, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Frankly darling, I don’t give a damned. If you can afford to put the gas in it – drive it, honey! Wonder if those poor folks that are not expecting as much out of life in Vinton can afford to fill their gas tanks?

  9. joe public | September 22, 2012 at 9:08 am

Sorry Radford didn’t live up to your expectations, Sandi. It’ll be tough for us to go on with our lives now, but somehow we’ll manage.

    #6 “Teeheeeeeheeeeheeeee.”

Jeez, did you just get out of a middle school slumber party?

  11. Sandi Saunders | September 22, 2012 at 12:17 pm

Actually “joe public”, I thought Radford was charming and, as I said, a lot like Vinton. I happen to love Vinton and that small town feel of any place. The proximity to the college was another surprise. Having heard so much about all the parades of people and right wing turnout, I was merely expecting a bigger main drag. Why is it you find that insulting?

Kathie, for a lady who does not “give a damned”, you were the one asking?

  12. Kathie | September 22, 2012 at 2:10 pm

@Sandi – your own post “2.I actually drove up to Radford after that little flap, I was sure expecting “more”. It reminded me of Vinton” was very clear that your expectations were not met and when they weren’t met what came to mind was Vinton.

  13. Sandi Saunders | September 22, 2012 at 3:08 pm

I have “explained” in plain English all I am going to. Your interrogation seems to be meant to make some point that eludes me. Care to quit playing games and spell that out?

  14. joe public | September 22, 2012 at 3:40 pm

That’s wonderful, Sandi. Since Radford reminds you so much of Vinton, perhaps you should limit your “treks” to that corner of the Roanoke Valley. We here in the NRV will continue the healing process in your absence.

  15. joe public | September 22, 2012 at 3:45 pm

Oh, and the next time you hear about those parades of people and the large right-wing turnouts in Radford, please let me know where and when they are so that I may attend! Perhaps that will give you more fodder for internet musings, which seem to give you so much entertainment and self-satisfaction.

  16. Kristen | September 22, 2012 at 4:13 pm

Kathie, YOU’RE the one who said she drove up there for no other reason than to see the bakery. Not her. Just because it was “after” the baker’s little moment, doesn’t mean it was “because of”.

Post ergo propter is a logical fallacy.

  17. Sandi Saunders | September 22, 2012 at 6:15 pm

The desperation of Kathie and “joe public” is palpable. And sad.

  18. gdad | September 23, 2012 at 10:37 am

#16 Mighty strange how Kathie decided for Sandi why she drove up there. Reminds me of another recent poster who decided he knew why some Blacksburg restaurateurs closed up.

  19. b.o.h.i.c.a. | September 23, 2012 at 11:03 am

Kathie and joe public, you both rock! Keep up the good work.

  20. Sandi Saunders | September 23, 2012 at 7:52 pm

Seriously b.o.h.i.c.a., are you twelve? There is no “good work” here!

  21. Kathie | September 24, 2012 at 8:45 am

I only came upon this blog a week ago and it seems to be dominated by three or four people b.o.h.i.c.a.

One actually sees themself as a bonafide journalist. Entertaining.

  22. b.o.h.i.c.a. | September 24, 2012 at 10:15 am

Sandy Saunders, I AM VERY serious! I’ll play your game, are you ten?

Kathie, I think we both know who you are talking about. I take their comments with a grain of salt.

  23. b.o.h.i.c.a. | September 24, 2012 at 10:31 am

Correction, the “Y” should be “I” in sandi

  24. Sandi Saunders | September 24, 2012 at 11:22 am

Yes well Kathie, you are certainly a bona fide cut and paste plagiarizer, just what we needed here!

  25. Kathie | September 24, 2012 at 12:02 pm

@Sandi, so sorry you can’t dominate the blog anymore.

  26. Kathie | September 24, 2012 at 12:04 pm

@b.o.h. Yes, we do know what I was trying to illustrate and I’m guessing it went right over their head.

  27. Kathie | September 24, 2012 at 12:09 pm

@Kristen – the last paragraph of the RT post involved Crumb & Get It. Sandi then retorted, ‘after that little flap’.

Perhaps it’s difficult for you to follow the thread, but please don’t print it out – that’ll give money to those greedy corporations that produce and sell paper and you’ll completely destroy a tree, honey.

  28. Kristen | September 24, 2012 at 12:58 pm

Kathie, again, more slowly. Just because she was there “after that little flap” doesn’t mean she went BECAUSE OF IT. Is this really that difficult?

But you rock, carry on, great work.

  29. gdad | September 24, 2012 at 1:14 pm

#27 Kathie, I guess some words are little tough for you to deal with, but she said “after that little flap,” not “because of that little flap.” I also fail to see where Sandi said she “drove up there for no reason except to see a small business owner.” Those, in fact, were your words.

Glad to help you understand what happened here.

  30. Kathie | September 24, 2012 at 2:16 pm

Awwww… sorry to be raining on your parade.

  31. gdad | September 24, 2012 at 11:26 pm

#30 Kathie, Glad we were able to help straighten you out as to what it was Sandi REALLY said and also that you were the one who said she was going there just to see one merchant. If you want to play, you need to keep up.

  32. Marked Man | September 25, 2012 at 2:10 pm

“Updated at 4:30 p.m., Saturday. The Obama campaign initially sent the wrong address. It’s 513 East Main Street, not West Main Street.”

Well, darn. You would think the mighty obama campaign would know what address is correct?

  33. joe public | September 25, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Sandi, the only desperation on my part is in trying to catch my breath after laughing at you so hard. And as for sad, enjoy your internet “win”. Have a great day!
