What voters in Montana are seeing this fall

We interrupt this Virginia campaign to bring you this campaign ad from Montana.

It’s unlike anything we’ve seen, and while we love the Blue Ridge, especially this time of year, an ad like this could also make us pine for the politics of Big Sky Country.

A little background: This is the ad for U.S. Senator Jon Tester, the Democratic incumbent. Obviously, being a Democrat is Montana makes him an endangered species of sort — especially in a presidential year where Mitt Romney is expected to carry the state and provide some coattails to the GOP Senate candidate. (Although maybe out West, they hunt endangered species?)

Here is Tester’s attempt to show Montana voters he’s not some liberal wuss when it comes to hunting and fishing.

Or, as his campaign puts it, he’s, um, “mounting” an effort to show voters how committed he is to outdoor issues.

In any case, this is the first ad we’ve seen with talking animals.
