Allen to campaign in Roanoke on Thursday

Republican U.S. Senate candidate George Allen will campaign in the Roanoke Valley on Thursday, with stops in Botetourt County and Roanoke.

Allen will hold a meet-and-greet event at 8:30 a.m. at the Blue Ridge Library at 28 Avery Road, about a half-mile east of the Bonsack Wal-Mart. Allen also will address the Virginia Economic Developers Association fall conference at Hotel Roanoke at 10:30 a.m. and visit the Roanoke City Market at 11:45 a.m.

Allen is battling Democrat Tim Kaine in a clash of former governors for Virginia’s open Senate seat. The candidates will have their final debate Oct. 18 at Virginia Tech.
