Does the University of Virginia really have more Marxists than Republicans on its faculty?

Barack Obama

Mitt Romney
More on the question of whether Virginia remains in play or not:
* The conservative American Spectator has a piece called “Obama’s hopes fading in Virginia.” It’s based on reporting out of Charlottesville where, among other thing, the magazine describes the University of Virginia as a place “where the faculty probably has more Marxists than Republicans.” Colorful hyperbole, or statement of fact? I didn’t see anything new in this piece about the state of the race in Virginia, but you can read it here and decide for yourself.
* The latest poll in Virginia is from Rasmussen (who often tends to have more Republican results than others.) That poll gives Romney a 3-point lead. More significantly, it does put Romney at the magic 50 percent — 50 to 47. That puts the Real Clear Politics average of polls in Virginia at a dead heat.
* Amid reports earlier this week that the Obama campaign was giving up on Virginia — a report hotly disputed by the Obama campaign – we said to keep an eye on the candidates’ travel schedules, among other things. Pay attention to what they do, not what they say. Well, today Obama is back in Virginia, for a rally at George Mason University.

I’m trying to process the inanity of this headline, but my brain just keeps rejecting it. “Statement of fact”, seriously? Sometimes I think entire blogs exist just to cast a patina of legitimacy on rank idiocy.
Yeah I am going to second that one Kristen. This is precisely the respect such a stupid proclamation is not due. You should have said: More right wing lunacy makes it clear that even if Romney wins Virginia, he loses all credibility. Not as catchy I know, but much more truthful.
Well, that tells us how much credence to give to anything the AS says. None at all.
