Did Virgil Goode make the difference in Virginia, after all?

Virgil Goode

Maybe so.

At the moment, Obama leads Romney in the Old Dominion by 39,693 votes — but significantly, is under 50 percent.

Former Rep. Virgil Goode is polling 12,761 votes as the Constitution Party candidate, so he alone wouldn’t have made the difference.

But add in Libertarian Gary Johnson at 27,549 and, lo, there you have 40,310 votes. Now, it’s easy to argue that Constitution Party voters really should be Republican voters; it’s harder to make the same case for the Libertarian voters. Libertarians don’t fit neatly into the left-right paradigm. That’s why, well, that’s why they’re Libertarians.
