Half-hour wait in Rockingham County
This morning, my 23-year-old daughter cast her first vote in person. Until now, she’s already voted absentee (and apparently became somewhat famous at the Botetourt County registrar’s office, as perhaps the only Botetourt vote to cast a ballot from Spain, where she went to college for two years.)
Now she’s living in Rockingham County and asked me how long she should set aside for voting. Since she was going before she went to work, I told her I’d guess about 30 minutes, more or less.
She reports she spent 29 minutes in line at her precinct in Rockingham County, and then just another minute to cast her vote.
If my prognostication tonight is that on the money, we may all be able to go home early — but somehow, I doubt it.
