Obama edges past 50 percent in Virginia

The State Board of Elections now puts Obama at 50.16% in Virginia, with Romney at 48.25%.

There are still a handful of precincts out, though, as previously noted, they tend to be strongly Democratic — so the outcome doesn’t appear in doubt. The percentage, though, could change.

Obviously if Obama stays above 50 percent, then the math we did previously looking at whether the third-party candidates made a difference would become moot.
