As a lawyer I represent several responsible licensed firearms dealers. They would also like to see the tables of private sellers kept from gun shows; not because of competition, but because they do not want to see the wrong people get firearms, thus giving all responsible firearms owners a bad name. (By the way, these private individuals charge higher prices.) The ATF has had a regulation that anyone who sells more than twelve firearms in one year is considered to "being engaged in business" and should have the correct license. Current laws need laws need to be enforced. We do not need any "goofy" new laws. I also know of gun show operators who hire security and keep private individuals away and who are trying to sell firearms from being sold on the steps and the parking lots.

I have done extensive research on the Second Amendment. It is clear, from the writings of the Framers, that they strongly believed citizens should have the right to own firearms for the defense of self and others. The U.S. Supreme Court, both in 2008 and 2010 took the same position. It must be remembered that the Bill of Rights did not "give" new rights, it affirmed the rights that we have as American citizens.

Virginia had back ground checks before the so-called "Brady Bill". The Brady Centers are nothing but money making outfits and peddling fear. I have challenged Colin Goddard, a Virginia Tech survivor, who is a paid lobbyist for the Brady outfit, to debate me on gun control issues this Spring. So far no response.

Sorry. Every-every-everybody! knows what the deal is on the gun show loophole. It is a shame that a majority of committee members don't care about stopping another Newtown. You too, Edwards! Get your feces cohesive, gentlemen. The time is now to show whether or not you are on the side of reason.
