I was driving to work last week when I spotted this car in front of me at the stoplight — with a quote attributed to George Washington written on the back.
Specifically, it said: “Guns are second only to the Constitution in importance. They are the people’s liberty’s teeth.”
The sentiment is surely heartfelt but an easy Internet search quickly turns up that the quote is bogus.
That said, George was surely familiar with both firearms — and teeth, although he likely had more of the former than the latter.
