Gov. Bob McDonnell is giving no thought to resignation as he tries to heal any breaches in trust caused by the tens of thousands of dollars worth of gifts and loans he, his family and a family business received from a businessman whose company is fighting a $1.7 million state tax assessment.
In an interview from Afghanistan with NBC4 in Washington, McDonnell said he had repaid $120,000 of loans from Star Scientific chief executive Jonnie Williams as a way to address any perception Virginians might have of impropriety.
Asked if he had give any thought to resigning, McDonnell said: “None. I’m not going anywhere. I love this job.”
