Libertarian Robert Sarvis has been excluded from tonight’s debate between gubernatorial candidates Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe.
But television viewers in Northern Virginia will get a chance to see Sarvis’ debut television ad, which is set to air during the debate broadcast. In the 30-second spot, Sarvis offers himself as an alternative to two major-party candidates saddled with image problems.
“Like you, I can’t vote for Ken Cuccinelli’s narow-minded social agenda. I want a Virginia that’s open-minded, and welcoming to all,” Sarvis says in the ad, which features footage of the candidate and his family. “And like you, I don’t want Terry McAuliffe’s cronyism either, where government picks winners and losers.”
A Quinnipiac University poll released last week had McAuliffe at 44 percent, Cuccinelli at 41 percent and Sarvis at 7 percent.
