Quick Thought: July 20
Michael Vick’s 23-month sentence for running a dog-fighting ring ends today.
Next will be a meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as Goodell wants to judge Vick’s contrition for his misdeeds for himself. Whatever the outcome of the meeting, Vick should be reinstated to the NFL immediately. He’s served his time, suffered public humiliation and will never command the salary he once did.
But he deserves the chance to make a living at his chosen profession if there is a franchise willing to take a chance on him. And there will be. What Vick did was heinous, but he didn’t kill anyone like Donte’ Stallworth pleaded guilty to doing in his DUI manslaughter case, and it hasn’t been suggested that Stallworth not be able to return to the NFL.
Vick hasn’t habitually been in trouble with the law like Pacman Jones and how many times has Jones returned to the league?

THE MAN HAS PAID HIS DUES TO SOCIETY AND SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO MAKE A LIVING. WHAT HAPPENED TO MICHAEL WAS IN MY OPINION A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE TO BEGIN WITH. A HEAVY FINE AND A SHORTER JAIL SENTENCE WOULD HAVE BETTER SERVED THE PUBLIC. HE GOT A STRONGER SENTENCE THAN MOST HARDENED CRIMINALS BECAUSE OF WHO HE WAS AND I HAVE NO DOUBT HIS COHORTS IN CRIME WERE JUST AS GUILTY AS HIM AND SERVED LESSER SENTENCES.

Allow him the chance to play, yes what he did was very wrong but he has paid heavily. He says he has changed let us see. This country is all about the second chance Mike make the best of it.

All of the people who will be picketing outside of the stadium when Michael Vick plays this year: I assume they’re all vegetarians?!

OK, now all of you Vick fans are happy. But what about his victims? It’s only a matter of time before he does something worse, maybe this time to a human being. Just wait and see, he’ll be out of the NFL within 2 years for doing something else incredibly stupid. His endorsement deals are over. No one will touch him. No one is to blame except Vick himself. Evidently, stupidity runs in the family.
