Wednesday night, Dick Vitale praised Florida State basketball players for being “courageous” in their win over Duke. Give me a break.
Monday night, an announcer praised a coach’s play call as “courageous.” Ridiculous.
It was only last weekend that Roger Salzgeber and Bill Badger tackled the gunman in Arizona as Patricia Maisch grabbed the shooter’’s magazine from him. Those three people were courageous. Announcers should not be labeling athletes or coaches as courageous for winning a game or calling a play when we have just been reminded of what courage really is.
