East boys roll with big 2nd half to top West
NEWPORT NEWS — The star-filled East squad went on a 14-4 run midway through the third quarter to open up what had been a five-point game and went on to down the West 103-84 in the VHSCA Boys All-Star Game at CNU.
Led by standout players Dontrell Brite of Nansemond River, Oscar Smith’s Chris Williams, Great Bridge’s Taj Owens and Zach Johnson of King’s Fork — who combined for 49 points — the East, which also drained 12 3-pointers — was never threatened again after that third-quarter run.
Marcus Knight of Gar-Field led the West with 18 points. Galax’s Lawrence Parsons finished with 13. Christiansburg’s Zach Davis had seven points and Zack Stinnett of Parry McCluer finished with four.
