Weekend open thread

Show me a man or a woman alone and I’ll show you a saint. Give me two and they’ll fall in love. Give me three and they’ll invent the charming thing we call ‘society’. Give me four and they’ll build a pyramid. Give me five and they’ll make one an outcast. Give me six and they’ll reinvent prejudice. Give me seven and in seven years they’ll reinvent warfare. Man may have been made in the image of God, but human society was made in the image of His opposite number, and is always trying to get back home.

How’s your society today?

Has any mention about the “Green job Czar” Van Jones appeared in the RT? I have not seen it.

Van Jones is the self described commie, racist, and supporter of Bush being behind 9/11 in order to start a war.

I suspect the RT is waiting for the NYT to take a position. If so, it will be awhile:

Coverage of the Jones controversy in the New York Times: 0.
Coverage of the Jones controversy in the Washington Post: 0.
Coverage of the Jones controversy on NBC Nightly News: 0.
Coverage of the Jones controversy on ABC World News: 0.
Coverage of the Jones controversy on CBS Evening News: 0.

Outside of the liberal media, there has been much coverage. Reminds one of Obama’s other friends, Rev. Wright and terrorist Ayers. Once a commie, always a commie.

dont tell me this admin is not racist…see the cop in this video in virginia

Obama has always surrounded himself with thugs, racists and radicals. This was known before the election but the “enlightened” majority voted him in anyway. And all this with the likes of pelosi and reid in power. One Big Assinine Mistake America.

  4. Kristen | September 5, 2009 at 10:17 am

People who pin 9/11 on Bush have far, far more confidence in his abilities than I do.

  5. Saintbridge | September 5, 2009 at 10:19 am

I am worried about our society that we have to have such a sharp divide on everything in this society. We cannot have a discussion — civil or otherwise — about our broken health care system because of fear and mistrust. It really is a shame that it all has devolved to one side shrieking at the other w/o really even listening.

    @#1: Example No. 1.

“Once a commie, always a commie.” Now there’s an open mind!

  6. Saintbridge | September 5, 2009 at 10:22 am

@#3: Name them and prove they are what you say they are with facts. Please.

  7. Kristen | September 5, 2009 at 10:26 am

Really Pammela…you look at the poster that “protester” is holding and you call the COP racist? Unreal.

For those who climb up on their high horse and proclaim that there’s not a HUGE racist element in the “teabaggers” rosters and agenda, sorry but I have to call BS on that one. Most of these “teabaggers” are thinly disguised skinheads and low-functioning undereducated crackers who woke up one day to find that their President wasn’t a white guy and can’t take it.

A lot of this is generational. 20 years from now, most of this ilk will have died out and the younger generation will be ascend. They’re not saddled with the pea-brained mentality that force people to make donkey’s asses of themselves over things like race, sex, and religion. The country will be vastly improved.

  8. John R | September 5, 2009 at 10:34 am

Well, a hate piece about the Focus on the Family layoffs is more news worthy than a commie adviser to our Lier-in-Chief in the White House, I’m sure.

  9. Dan Radmacher | September 5, 2009 at 10:34 am

@Pam #2: I wasn’t aware that rent-a-cop had a position with the Obama administration. Beyond that, Pammala, I’m extremely curious – what exactly was “racist” about that exchange? The officer was clearly wrong – law enforcement should not be telling one person to take down a sign because of its content when other signs are allowed.

But what did you see in that exchange that was racist?

I can’t wait to hear this.

  10. pammala | September 5, 2009 at 10:35 am

@3 van jones is one of them..he is a racist and a self proclaimed communist , thug just follows naturally with that description…

  11. pammala | September 5, 2009 at 10:37 am

@because all the posters that were made of bush displaying almost the same pic was displayed with no problem, yet when a black man is portrayed in that manner, we cannot show these posters why…the race card is always there, loud or silent it is always there dan

  12. pammala | September 5, 2009 at 10:38 am

    @10 i cant wait to hear this…

    tsk tsk

  13. Dan Radmacher | September 5, 2009 at 10:48 am

@pammala #10: “because all the posters that were made of bush displaying almost the same pic was displayed with no problem, yet when a black man is portrayed in that manner, we cannot show these posters why…the race card is always there, loud or silent it is always there dan”

Seriously, Pam? That’s all you got? That’s your evidence of racism in the Obama administration? Some rent a cop for a school board who decides he doesn’t like a poster with a picture of Obama? Do you know this particular cop ever let posters with Bush pictures go without comment? Do you even know if he ever policed an event involving a protest against Bush?

    Weak, Pammala. Very, very weak.

  14. pammala | September 5, 2009 at 10:53 am

@14 thats not all i got dan i just do not sit here all day with nothing else to do but comments. i have another life believe it or not..you need to get on the interent, you know that thing that gore invented, and look it up, read all you can about this and see if it doesnt change your lib mind…by the way, no wonder the rt is stalking people at kroger to give away free papers, they dont sell with this lib attitude anymore….

  15. Patt | September 5, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I don’t know if Obama is any more racist than his political opponents but he has tolerated racist ideas through out the years as long as the racism is directed towards whites.
What evidence does anyone have that the teabag element is racist? Vague rumors with little evidence towards others ruins societies. For the most part, the tea bag party is concerned that the President and Congress will run this country into the ground by foolish tax and spending policies.

  16. Saintbridge | September 5, 2009 at 1:39 pm

@#15: Name a few for us and document them.

  17. Saintbridge | September 5, 2009 at 1:51 pm

” thats not all i got dan i just do not sit here all day with nothing else to do but comments. i have another life believe it or not.”

… A quick scan of topics yesterday and today shows no less than 18 — maybe more — comments by “pammala.” But who’s counting? … just sayin’ … (think I am over 5 but less than 10).

  18. Another Chris | September 5, 2009 at 1:58 pm

Here you go Saintbridge. This is the ‘Green Jobs Czar’ Van Jones, a self proclaimed radical communist. He is one of the racists Obama has appointed so far.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6gOmIalJVw

  19. Another Chris | September 5, 2009 at 2:04 pm

And how could we forget the famed Reverend Wright. Obama tolerated his racist diatribes for 20 years until it threatened him politically during the campaign. Only then did he distance himself from Wright.

As for the “once a commie . . .” has Jones ever said he was no longer a communist?

How many examples do you want? They are actually not that hard to find. The first step is to remove your head from the sand . .

  20. Jim W. | September 5, 2009 at 2:33 pm

His good ole rev for 20 years for starters.

  21. pammala | September 5, 2009 at 3:48 pm

@19 exactly right..you cannot sit in a church for that long listening to the rantings against the whites who are the devil in wrights words, and not have the same opinion, otherwise he would’ve moved to another church long ago. and any person that stands in a church but chants g-d america, is no reverend and no christian….he’s the lunatic that your master listened to…now he listens to communist van jones

  22. Patrick | September 5, 2009 at 4:23 pm

#7 Kristen – “Most of these “teabaggers” are thinly disguised skinheads and low-functioning undereducated crackers who woke up one day to find that their President wasn’t a white guy and can’t take it.”

It’s baseless, ignorant comments like that that do nothing but add fuel to the fire.

Back it up with some facts, Kristen. Please. Let’s see some facts that support your statement.

  23. Patrick | September 5, 2009 at 4:29 pm

I’m curious…if a white person were to say “typical black person” they would be branded a racist, right? Of course they would, and to say otherwise is a lie.

Obama, on the other hand, said “typical white person” when talking about his grandmother. Yet he’s defended by the left as not being a racist.

    Why is that?

  24. Saintbridge | September 5, 2009 at 5:02 pm

@18: And … what? He’ making an allegation just like all those on these boards calling the president a socialist. It does not make him racist per se. You gotta give me something more substantial that 30 seconds, pal.

  25. Saintbridge | September 5, 2009 at 5:10 pm

I think it is entirely possible to have a discussion and use terms like “typical white person” and “blacks” and not be a racist. My head is not in the sand on this. So what if this one guy favors communism? Isn’t this America? Do any of you in your wildest — and I say Wildest! — dreams believe that he is The Only One the president listens to? Please, give him some credit.

This is why I am concerned for our society, which is what this thread was initially about. You can’t say “hello” on here without the right launching into an attack on Obama for trying to encourage people to greet each other in a civil manner.

  26. John R | September 5, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Obama wrote in his book (or aleast his ghost writer did) that while in university he hung with socialists and experimented with drugs.

Taking control of the banking industry, auto industry, housing industry, and attempting to take over the health sector is socialism as far as I’m concerned. Once a commie, always a commie.

  27. Patrick | September 5, 2009 at 5:35 pm

#25 Saintbridge – You’re absolutely correct…the Dear Leader doesn’t just listen to one person. He also listens to the tax cheats, racists, and socialists he associates with and loaded his administration with.

“You can’t say “hello” on here without the right launching into an attack on Obama for trying to encourage people to greet each other in a civil manner.”

Nor can you say “hello” here without the left throwing insults and slanders the millisecond anyone questions the Dear Leader.

  28. Kristen | September 5, 2009 at 5:53 pm

Back it up with some facts, Kristen. Please. Let’s see some facts that support your statement.

Look at the poster in Pammala’s link and figure it out for yourself. If that doesn’t make it clear, perhaps the entire subject matter is beyond your comprehension, in which case no number of posts will help.

  29. Patrick | September 5, 2009 at 6:15 pm

#28 – No, Kristen…I’m not falling for your typical “insult as a last resort” tactic.

You said “”Most of these “teabaggers” are thinly disguised skinheads and low-functioning undereducated crackers who woke up one day to find that their President wasn’t a white guy and can’t take it.” Then you say to look at the video and figure it out for myself.

For starters, you can’t even see the person the cop is hassling, so how do you know he’s a “skinhead”? Do you know for a fact that he’s “undereducated”? And by not knowing a single thing about his life, you call him a “cracker”.

I’m not the one who’s comprehension is questionable, Kristen. And having been to several Tea Parties (while you, I’m sure, haven’t been to a single one) and seen and talked with the people who attend, I think I’m FAR more aware of the type of people they are than you will EVER be.

You make a broad statement that you can’t back up, then when called on it, you resort to insults…as usual.

  30. pammala | September 5, 2009 at 8:54 pm

    @29… Patrick,

when you present facts to libs they ridicule you personally..it doesn’t work libbies…we’re not going away in fact, it appears that our opinions are growing in number…just see the latest rasmussen poles..obama is in deep doo doo

  31. Saintbridge | September 5, 2009 at 9:14 pm

#27 — Whatever. Name calling and labeling don’t do anything to solve any of the problems our country faces. But people such as yourself don’t really seem to be interested in doing anything but keeping the status quo. I think we can do better. We’ll just have to work around the likes of you.

  32. Patrick | September 5, 2009 at 9:37 pm

#31 – Saintbridge, are you kidding? Seriously, I can’t believe you can write a post saying name calling and labeling don’t do anything to solve any of our problems…then you finish it of with an insult.

    Sad.

  33. Dan Radmacher | September 5, 2009 at 9:54 pm

Really, Patrick? “The likes of you” is an insult? How so?

  34. scott | September 6, 2009 at 4:28 am

No, the tea parties have been full of tons of brilliant minds.

    http://www.plunderbund.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/monkeyspend.jpg

Spreading ignorance to your kids is even more appalling than the sign.

While Kristen may have been generalizing, there is a segment of truth to it. I have my share of stories hearing many racial epithets coming under-breath when people think I support their views. To claim that there isn’t a component of racism by those who are against everything Obama does in office is not only ludicrous, it’s downright ignorant of the world we live in.

  35. Patrick | September 6, 2009 at 7:00 am

#33 Dan – It’s a denigrating remark, Dan. As in, “Too bad we have to put up with the likes of you.”

  36. BUD | September 6, 2009 at 7:24 am

Van Jones, aka Barack Obama, jr., steps down as green jobs czar. No experience, clean and articulate and radical, he’s emblematic of this administration. And you have to admire the way the PREZ stood behind Jones and fought for his retention. I guess with it being Labor Day weekend, the teleprompter was nowhere to be found.

  37. Saintbridge | September 6, 2009 at 8:12 am

@35: Good morning. My remark was not denigrating in that I neither defamed nor belittled you or your position. Your position is certainly valid, but there was an election and your side lost.

“Birther” site brings down one of Obama’s czars

  39. Henry | September 6, 2009 at 8:25 am

    @27

    Patrick

If criticism of the president really concerns you, you should have spoken up during the Bush presidency. The Democrats have lost the ability to be disappointed with criticism of the president. At least Democrats can cry “racism” when their guy gets insulted.

  40. John R | September 6, 2009 at 9:09 am

A midnite letter of resignation from Jones on Labor Day weekend claiming he was smeared by the right wing. Obama’s campaign promise of an “open” administration was just another lie.

Obama knew very well Jones was a commie radical. That is a resume enhancement for this administration.

Green Job Czar! What a laugh! He never created a job in his life as a radical faculty member at UC Berkeley.

Maybe these 30 plus “Czars” hired by Obama are not such a good idea. They are not vetted by congress but yet Jones was incharge of spending over $5 billion of tax payer’s money.

  41. Patrick | September 6, 2009 at 9:30 am

#36 BUD – “Van Jones, aka Barack Obama, jr., steps down as green jobs czar.”

Hmmm…no mention of it here, even though it happened yesterday. Shouldn’t it be in the “Breaking News” box on the home page?

Jones’ excuse that he was brought down by a “smear” campaign was a backwards slap at Obama. The idea that the president would let a smear campaign bring down one of his czars makes the president look impotent. The President can always refuse the offer of resignation and fight for his guy. It also encourages the “smearers”.
Sometimes, I think Bush was too quick to toss his people over the side as well.

It is actually more disturbing that big O is silent about this. Obama new exactly what Jones’ background and beliefs were and are. In 3 years this huge mistake can be rectified. Unfortunately this country will likeley be bankrupt by then.

  45. Patrick | September 6, 2009 at 12:51 pm

I’m looking forward to Obama’s comments concerning Jones. Any chance they’ll be along the lines of “The person that I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago”?
