Finally. Montgomery County finally is on track to replace Blacksburg and Auburn high schools and renovate Auburn Middle School. The board of supervisors last week agreed to spend $125 million on the three projects.
A year and a half has passed since Blacksburg High’s gymnasium collapsed, a year and a half of dithering.
Supervisors and school board members dithered over replacing or repairing Blacksburg High. They dithered over whether to build it themselves or seek private partners. They dithered over costs and tax rates.
With last week’s vote, the dithering is nearly finished.
