Rehabbing tax policy for new schools
Virginia’s leaders seek federal tax credits to renovate public schools. They should also increase state aid.
Given today’s highly charged cede-no-ground politics, small is the surviving neutral zone of common ground.
Yet it is this plot that Virginia’s political heavyweights claimed title to last week when they momentarily stepped away from partisan bouts. What brought Sens.Jim Webb and Mark Warner, Rep. Eric Cantor and Gov. Bob McDonnell along with former governors and senatorial campaign sparring partners George Allen and Tim Kaine together is heartening: better public school buildings for Virginia’s students.
