Buchanan: Truth in advertising

It depends on the meaning of ‘create’

By Timothy P. Buchanan

Buchanan is an author and lives in Buchanan.

In a political ad on television, an announcer blames “secretive oil billionaires” for attacking President Barack Obama, boasts that he created 2.7 million “green jobs,” claims he has lessened America’s dependence on foreign oil, and says that he has made changes that have made Washington more ethical.

The truth? It’s much different. If you interpret the statements to mean that policies enacted by the administration have added 2.7 million new jobs in which people manufacture solar panels and exploit wind energy, made sweeping ethics reforms, and reduced energy consumption, well, that’s what the Obama camp wants you to believe. But it’s all a big lie.

  1. Who knew? Timothy Buchanan and I have so much in common.

I cannot take credit for this bit of wit but in light of this hooey, I will quote my good friend from another blog “I voted for Obama the first time because he’s black and because he can play a decent game of basketball. I will now add ‘because he can sing’ to my reasons for voting for him this year.”

    Same thing IMO

  2. Now, now Mr. Buchanan. There you go confusing the liberals with facts, logic and worst of all, the truth. Don’t you realize your making things worse. With all these facts and statistics you’ve given them even more things about the Obama administration they will have to ignore to keep cheering for him.

  3. The only problem with your analysis Chuck is that in spite of all those charges, he’s STILL a better candidate than any of the Republicans.

In a country of 300 million people, these are the best we can do??

Personally, I’ll be voting Socialist this year as a write in.

  4. Actually Scott, I’d say he is a proven liar and is NO better than any other candidate. Whether he is worse than the other candidates is debatable, but better than them? Upon what exactly could we base that conclusion. So far all I’ve seen from him is politics as usual.

  5. I think they are all proven liars and demagogues, pols have to be to get elected. I suppose the term “better than” depends on your own perspective. I think Obama is head and shoulders above Ron Paul who seems to be a lunatic who stumbles upon the truth on his way to bell ringing idiocy, Rick Santorum who is a religious zealot ready to burn gay people, Newt Gingrich who can no longer recognize honor and wants his former mistress to be our First Lady, and Mitt Romney who belongs to a cult that baptizes dead people and is as changeable as a well greased weather vane. Just my opinion of course.
