Poor Rick, or media cry-baby?
Rick Santorum’s challenge to Mitt Romney’s front-runner status for the Republican presidential nomination is being taken seriously now, and that brings closer media scrutiny – always a double-edged sword. Santorum and his team are crying foul about questions arising out of statements as fresh as this weekend’s comments that he opposes some free prenatal testing because they lead to more abortions and past statements that will be controversial if he should get the nomination, such as (from his 2006 book “It Takes A Family”): “the radical feminists succeeded in undermining the traditional family and convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness.” Veteran media reporter Howard Kurtz takes an even-handed look, I think, on how fairly the media pack has dealt with Santorum.

Rick can now afford a make-up artist and some better clothes. Sure helps. Shame his views can’t get a sprucing as well.
