Weekend open thread

During the last ten years, the amount of street music has so greatly increased that it has now become a positive nuisance to a very considerable portion of the inhabitants of London. It robs the industrious man of his time; it annoys the musical man by its intolerable badness; it irritates the invalid; deprives the patient, who at great inconvenience has visited London for the best medical advice, of the that repose which, under such circumstances, is essential for his recovery, and it destroys the time and the energies of all the intellectual classes of society by its continual interruptions of their pursuits.

What annoys you this weekend?

McDonnell at 53% ?? Now, why in the world would we believe Michael Sluss` poll %`s..???? The obama lap dogs at the Times(any of them) are alinsky-ites…“The ends justify the means“…according to `ol Saul himself. Journalism is DEAD simply because those in the liberal media are more interested in thier cause than they are to just report the NEWS as it is….Sad, but true ! McDonnell, 53% ??? I doubt these #`s very seriously!!

I think this is interesting. It’s a news story on NPR you can listen to about Margaret Sanger, women’s activist and eventual co-founder of the group that would eventually become planned parenthood. Contrast what is said about Sanger with what’s going on in Utah today.

    http://www.npr.org/2012/03/22/149146468/writing-the-messy-life-of-a-sexual-health-pioneer

…Sanger began her efforts in behalf of sex education and contraception at a time when even talking about contraception was considered obscene and, in some places, even criminal. Women risked arrest when they sought out makeshift birth control devices that were often unsafe.

To this day, Margaret Sanger is lauded by many for her work in changing that and, as well, vilified by others for ushering in a culture that her critics say devalues life and women in the process…..

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has vetoed a bill banning all discussion of contraception in public school sex education classes and the sponsors of the bill are hopping mad — and using terrible analogies to make their argument. Like this one:….

First it was Cave Spring High School’s “Miss Groovy Teen” pageant: http://blogs.roanoke.com/roundtable/2012/03/miller-show-sensitivity-toward-gays/, and now it’s firefighters in drag: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_ODD_FASHIONABLE_FIREFIGHTERS. Silliness prevails.
