For Roanoke mayor

Yesterday evening, the NAACP in Roanoke hosted a debate for Roanoke’s mayoral candidates incumbent David Bowers and challenger Mark Lucas. It was an informative hour, and political reporter Mason Adams does a nice job hitting the high, and low, points with his story today.

We’ve had a chance to sit down and talk with both candidates and are planning this Sunday to publish our endorsement.

In the meantime, I wanted to give you a chance to make your pitch.

We already know who it will be. This is as predictable as the sun coming up tomorrow. No need for a “pitch” or the feigned build up, Roanokers know who you will endorse.

It will be the man who scowled at me whilst serving me pancakes.

Well you are certainly knocking yourselves out to make that “pitch”. I don’t live in the City and I don’t really care who wins, but it is interesting that so many supporters of Lucas are the same people who were all over Sam Rasoul for his wanting to “start at the top”…as if.

I think the Roanoke Times will surprise you Bill McClure. Not that it will matter.
