Santorum is dropping out
The Hill and The Washington Post are both reporting that Rick Santorum will announce that he is withdrawing from his campaign to win the Republican presidential nomination.
That now leaves Mitt Romney a clear shot unless anyone cares to breathe life into Newt’s campaign yet again.
So unless something truly bizarre occurs it looks like a Mitt Romney — Barack Obama contest. To those Republicans who have not embraced Romney before, are you ready to do so now? Will you campaign robustly for him or just case a lukewarm vote?
What is that you want to hear from him in the coming months?

Nothing. Both candidates are liars, flip floppers and tried and true politicians.
Oh, but since President Obama has had four years, it’s time for someone else. Just as it was for Bush after four.
Except Bush had 4% unemployment and a deficit that was a 1/4 of Obama’s at the end of his first 4 years.
3. Henry, and then he blew up the economy! Do you really want Bush comparisons?
@3 what was it at the end of his 2nd term?
Henry, if you want people to stop blaming Bush, stop reminding us of the house of cards he road into the worst recession in this nation since the Great Depression! Just sayin’

Santorum was not looking forward to losing his home state of Pennsylvania and THEN having to back out. He thinks he can live to fight another day, but he is done IMO for a long, long time.
I want to hear what Romney and Obama plan to do about the national debt. I don’t want to hear any smearing, mud-slinging, and all the BS that comes with campaigning. I want to hear concreted plans of action to attack the national debt. If they both can’t give a straight answer, I’m going to continue to vote for a 3rd party candidate because I am fed up with the forced choice between a Republican or a Democrat thanks to the Establishment and the media for blindingly going along with status quo.
What do I want to hear from Romney?
“Well, I just got off the phone with President Obama…he was very gracious in defeat…”
@Sandi #6 Back to Bush for a moment. I saw in…. By The Numbers that his mileage logged on AF 1 is equivalent to about 59 times flown around the world.
There are some good comments on his statement where he said, “I wish they weren’t called the Bush tax cuts.” http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/post/bush-i-wish-they-werent-called-the-bush-tax-cuts/2012/04/10/gIQAX3WR8S_blog.html?hpid=z5.
If these comments sway history he will be near the bottom among all of the past Presidents.
5 – it was worse, thanks to the Dems that had controlled Congress for the last two years. However, still not as bad as it is now.

BUD, it tears my heart that you will be so sorely disappointed. Romney will never be President of the United States.
@11 Sandi, I bugs me when regressives make absolute statements about future elections as none of really knows whats going to happen.
There’s lots of time between now and November. Please be careful with those types of statements.
Sure a lot can happen. A lot will happen, I have no doubt. It will not be an easy or pretty contest. In the end America is not going to elect a rich, wall street fat cat who baptizes dead people. No way, no how. This has nothing to do with Obama, and you may call me as regressive as you like, say I am spitting into the wind, say I am tempting fate, say I am crazy. Willard Romney will never be President of the United States.
12 & 13 – a lot of us made similar statements/assumptions 4 years ago about the empty suit that currently occupies the WH. No way America would elect a man with Obama’s questionable background, associations and his lack of executive experience.
Of course, we did have a lame candidate in McCain. And a lot of people wanted to “make history” in 2008. That history has been made now, and is off the table this year. And the bloom is off the Obama rose. We’re living in the worst economy since the Great Depression. And when asked the question, “are you better off now than you were four years ago”…the answer will be a resounding “NO”.
While Obama still has his die-hard supporters, he has lost a lot of the moderates and independents that helped him win in 2008.
