Easy as taking food away from grandpa

House Republicans today passed a bill that would restore  mandatory sequestration spending cuts to the defense.

Have no fear that they will just add this $72 billion to the nation’s debt. They have a plan. To buy more missiles and battleships, grandma will just need to skip her hot lunch, and poor people will do without health care.

The Hill reports the details here:

The House bill would leave pending mandatory cuts in place, including cuts to Medicare. It would turn off $72 billion in cuts to both the Pentagon and on defense spending mandated by sequestration, but add $315 billion in new cuts, none of which are imposed on the Pentagon.

Under the House-approved legislation, food stamp eligibility is tightened, the Prevention and Public Health Trust Fund under the 2010 healthcare law is ended, the Federal Medicaid match to states is reduced, new stricter eligibility standards for Medicaid are imposed, and the Social Services Block Grant, which funds Meals on Wheels, is ended.

Meals on Wheels? Really? Have they no shame?

The Republicans are doing the right thing. Given budget constraints, you want Congressmen who will cut spending where the government goes above and beyond it’s sustainable role. Congress should fund only Medicare, and who wouldn’t agree with proper qualification for such taxpayer benefits given existing fraud. Several “bad” eggs can ruin the reputation of entitlements for those who sincerely need them.

Also, the military has given us the radio, tv, satellites, airplanes and the Internet which has provided more benefits than all government programs combined. So, take a step back Democrats and review the facts before you make disparaging remarks about righting the unsustainable wrongs resulting from your entitlements.

Please replace Medicare with Medicaid in my previous comment.

The Republicans are still taking care of the rich. Regardless of what they say they have no thought of the middle class. Must be nice to have two cadillacs for your wife millions of dollars and a Swiss bank account.

You are correct Don and it is not going to change for the better if Romney is elected. That America can even consider electing someone from Wall Street defies explanation. That an entire political party is that tone deaf does not bode well for us.

Come on now, the government doesn’t protect the wealthy, rather the wealthy take care of themselves and so should you. Think about all people who made their lives significantly better for themselves and others.. they didn’t do it by complaining and blaming Wall St or orhers, rather they made something of themselves and then got heard.

It’s pointless and ineffective to complain, which demonstrates the just how much the Democrats lack a real plan for America. Think about it.. Why isn’t Obama bragging about the stimulus? Because labor force participation is DISMAL. Why isn’t Obama highlighting Obamacare? Because the real focus is on jobs and we cannot afford existing programs, let alone his healthcare behemoth. Why isn’t Obama focusing on growth for everyone? Because he has no plan except to complain, blame, and divide. And I see you guys follow his lead.

America most definitely needs someone other than Obama, and that guy is clearly Romney. Vote for self empowerment and opportunity, not a useless negative ideology.

Ah yes…the rabble rouser from the streets of Chicago was/is a much better choice than someone with real leadership experience and business sense. /sarc

How well is that community that Obama organized, doing today? Yeah, I thought so.
