Fantasy Chess!
Those of you who are looking for something to do in the aftermath of The RoundTable’s March Bracket Madness should not despair. May Madness is upon us. The U.S. Men’s and Women’s Championship Tournaments kicked off on Tuesday in St. Louis. Today, the World Championship gets underway in Moscow.
Regrettably, it’s too late for enthusiasts to sign up for the official Fantasy Chess competition. The grand prize is a luxury chess table and a poster signed by the two winners of this year’s national championships. The second prize, which sounds like a better deal to me, is a private lesson with Grand Master Ben Finegold.
But it’s never too late to play a real game of chess. The Roanoke Valley Chess Club meets every Saturday afternoon at the Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op.
