Pick of the day: Roanoke Gas’ finances areĀ a sure thing
I saw a tiny notice in today’s (June 27) paper stating, “RGC Resources has declared a quarterly dividend of 17.5 cents per share …. The dividend will be paid Aug. 1.”
RGC Resources is Roanoke Gas Co., the same company that with the blessing of the State Corporation Commission charged its customers an extra amount of money last month because, according to the insert that came with the bill, “The past winter was very mild and you have experienced lower natural gas bills.”
The charge “allows the company to recover a small percentage of this reduced revenue.”
This is the 273rd time that RGC Resources, Roanoke Gas Co., has paid a consecutive dividend.
More than 68 years of regular quarterly dividends.
Apparently they never, ever lose any money, unlike other businesses or individuals.
Maybe that’s because the State Corporation Commission looks after them. I wish I owned stock in RGC and lived in a mild climate during the winter.
