A model partnership

Leaders in Bedford and Bedford County deserve credit for working together on a reversion plan.

The city of Bedford and Bedford County are not just neighbors by virtue of geography. They are partners by virtue of their shared history and mutual desire for a more prosperous future.

The five members of the Virginia Commission on Local Government recognized the work that has gone into building and maintaining that relationship this week when they recommended that a three-judge panel approve plans for Bedford to revert to town status after more than four decades as an independent city.
