Give ICLEI the all clear
Roanoke County supervisors will ponder again whether emission control is a plot against the U.S.
This afternoon, Roanoke County supervisors once again look at the pros and cons of membership in ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability USA.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because in January, the board voted 3-2 to remain a part of ICLEI.
Conspiracy theorists have continued to question the affiliation. Last month, the two supervisors who cast dissenting votes, Butch Church and Ed Elswick, asked to put the issue back on the board’s agenda and either, in Church’s words, “put this to sleep or continue it forever.”

The bat guano crazy Butch Church and Ed Elswick continue to pander to the fringe right views of the UN conspiracy theorists among the Roanoke Tea Party leadership. Neither of these supervisors contributes to rational discussion of any issues or solutions to the problems facing their constituents and local governments today. Thank God Elswick’s term is almost over.
