There are a high number of distance learning institutes that are not accredited. This causes many to doubt the legitimacy of distance education. The same holds true for bricks and mortar schools. Many have been exposed and shut down due to them not being accredited or worse, a diploma mill that will take your money and send you a bogus degree.
