The economy isn’t always the culprit
By Tom Landon
The Roanoke Times does a good job covering business in our valley, and as my wife can tell you, I read pretty much every word written by your staffers every morning when I unwrap the paper. I think The Times does a great job of covering our region, but sometimes we all can get a little sloppy. Recent stories on the closing of three local restaurants seem to indicate this possibility.
It’s true that in the span of a few weeks the Little Chef, Tudor’s Biscuit World and The Library all called it quits after years of serving the people of Roanoke, but when all three articles about their closing blamed the events on “the economy” I wondered if there were other more pertinent reasons for their demise. Maybe it was their menus.
