A dangerous pledge of allegiance
By Edward Leonard
There are warnings of dire consequences related to our national debt and taxes all the while Congress is in recess. There seems to be no resolution to the economic problems facing our nation.
The concern I have is the responsibility of our elected representatives. As it stands, most Republicans who run for Congress sign a pledge not to raise taxes; otherwise, they will not be nominated or elected. If they break the pledge after being elected, they will lose their backing and lose in the next election. Most Republicans in Congress have signed this pledge that is under the control of Grover Norquist, the creator and lobbyist for the conservative organization Americans for Tax Reform, which wants to control members of Congress.

You end with “…we need to elect to congress persons with moral integrity and the ability to make wise decisions who will represent us and work for the good of all the people“. From your lips to God’s ears! America cannot take much more of this Congress, nor more like them!
