Don’t blame FOIA for UVa’s problems
The board of visitors created the school’s presidential mess, not open government.
Remember that brouhaha at the University of Virginia a few months back, the one with the ousted president whom the board of visitors rehired? It seemed pretty well settled that the bludgeoning of the school’s reputation was mostly the handiwork of then-Rector Helen Dragas.
Not so, revisionists are telling anyone who will listen. The real villain responsible for Hoos’ heartache was the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
