Speaking of chickens
Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op is asking Roanoke City Council to sell it acreage, plus the barn previously used for the mounted police patrol, along Blue Hill Drive for $30,000. There, the co-op will plant row crops, gardens and orchards and also raise chickens for their eggs. The parcel off Challenger Avenue is near a golf course and industrial park and will not abut homes. Unlike the co-op’s proposal for Countryside, neighbors aren’t likely to squawk.
