Gov. McDonnell wants suggestions for reducing regulations. We nominate one sitting on his desk.
Gov. Bob McDonnell has a real bee in his bonnet when it comes to regulations.
Back in 2006 when he was attorney general, the Republican became quite distraught when Pacific Research Institute, a San Francisco think tank, downgraded Virginia’s business-friendly ranking from second best to third in the nation. McDonnell concluded that the state was sliding into oblivion because of too many regulations, so he appointed 63 people to a task force and three working groups, all of them heavily leavened with campaign contributors, including Alpha Natural Resources executives.
