A season for reaching out
Our readers’ continued generosity in replenishing the Good Neighbors Fund provides an invaluable hedge against life’s unexpected reversals of fortune.
This is the 25th year Roanoke Area Ministries has operated a day shelter where people down on their luck can get a meal and find safe harbor. Well before that, though, RAM was helping people weather temporary financial crises.
The Roanoke Times started the community Good Neighbors Fund drive in 1983 and chose RAM to be its first administrator. Nearly 30 years later, RAM continues to distribute donations from readers who open their hearts and give to people who, with a little help, might avoid bigger problems.
