Better ways to spend $27 million

Candidates and PACs spent that amount driving the region crazy with television ads.

Television stations in the Roanoke-Lynchburg market took in $27 million from political ads this year. Let that sink in for a minute — $27 million.

We do not begrudge our media brethren in broadcast their windfall. Advertising pays the bills. Cameras, remote trucks and satellite uplinks are not free.

    I wonder how much advertising money the RT reaped this past election. I have very clear recollections of political advertising on this site alone. I trust some of this revenue will find its way into the coffers of the Good Neighbor Fund.

    Do more research. Salem’s budget is about 6 times $27M, but your point is taken.

    I fail to (or thouroughly?) understand your point.

    The RTEB is opining how private individuals & groups should spend their money (express their political opinions)….en lieu of being taxed for the “greater benifit”?
