Consider call center consolidation
Roanoke County and city might benefit from a single 911 dispatch center.
Roanoke County is a doughnut with four localities sharing space. The county and town of Vinton are linked as much as any town and county. The cities of Roanoke and Salem carve out doughnut holes.
Given their proximity, it behooves local governments to work together. In the past, talks often have stalled. Sometimes, though, they succeed. A fresh conversation about consolidating emergency call centers seems a prime opportunity for cooperation.
