Don’t leave your vote in limbo
Voters who cast provisional ballots should visit their registrar before noon.
For a few hundred Virginians, the election is not quite over. State electoral officials report that 360 people cast provisional ballots. They have until noon today to prove their identities at the local voter registrar’s office.
Those provisional ballots are the result of Virginia’s new voter ID requirement. In one way, it’s heartening to realize that so few voters showed up without identification on Tuesday. They were fewer than 1/100 percent of the 3.7million votes cast for president. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know how many registered voters left without completing a provisional ballot or did not show up at all because of the requirement.
