Education is expensive; a lack of one more so

In 2000, Total Action Against Poverty — now Total Action for Progress — initiated a high school dropout retrieval program called Project Recovery. The program raises funds through the annual Western Virginia Education Classic football game. As a strong supporter of education, I was pleased to introduce this idea to TAP.

In August, the 13th Annual WVEC was held at Ferrum College. This was the second time that Ferrum partnered with TAP to host the WVEC since its previous hosting in 2006. This year, the Roy Stanley Foundation and WDBJ (Channel 7) joined the partnership.
