Right electoral fixes, wrong funding source
Sen. Mark Warner offers a blueprint for better elections that Virginia and other states should follow.
Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia last week co-sponsored the FAST Voting Act of 2012 in response to widespread delays at polling places on Election Day. While the goals of the act are laudable, it proposes the wrong mechanism to make them happen.
Voting problems were reported around the country. In some places, people had to wait hours to vote. New identification rules, faulty voting machines and other causes all contributed to headaches.
