Wow went thru the letters online and what do you know. Not one letter, and I think there were 8 or so including online, all in favor for Obama. I know th RTEB said it wasnt going to endorse but geesh. So your telling me that thier was not 1 letter in favor of Romney, yes right.
This means 2 things. They are burying Romney letters or shows the very thin readership of this paper. Comon.

  2. Christina Nuckols | November 3, 2012 at 8:44 am

We have made an effort to have a mix of pro-Obama and pro-Romney letters published in the paper each day. Because we have had far more pro-Obama letters, they make up the vast majority of the backlog of letters that didn’t make it into the paper and are now being published only online. Rather than complain, you should have written a letter.

  3. Herb | November 3, 2012 at 8:57 am

I have written letters. Then that tells me the large part of your audience is ObAma which doesnt fit politcal geography of the surrounding area, because Romney will win the surrounding area. So then it means one thing that this paper is missing the boat on a lot of readership and revenue.

  4. Allan | November 3, 2012 at 9:53 am

My my, getting touchy there Ms. Nuckols. I suggest that your remaining readership is primarily liberal. Personally, I scan your articles simply to view another perspective. It’s not often enlightening. Putting down someone with a different opinion is not likely to help your cause.

  5. John R | November 3, 2012 at 10:12 am

The Obama administration continues to be evasive about Benghazi-gate!

Obamanistas claim Republicans are “politicizing” a tragedy but part of their job is to hold the Administration accountable. Unanswered questions about Benghazi cast a shadow over this election because Obama has failed to resolve them.

    1. Why did the Administration ignore warnings about the growing Islamist terrorist activity in Benghazi and fail to better protect the consulate and CIA annex?

The Red Cross and the UK had closed their offices in Benghazi after attempted terrorist attacks and assassinations. Ambassador Stevens advised the State Department in August about a “security vacuum” in Benghazi and requested more security which was denied.

    2. What was Obama doing and ordering in those fateful hours during the Benghazi attack on 9/11?

The Administration failed to bring armed drones, gunships or other close air support to defend the annex from the terrorists who were attacking for over four hours. During the attacks, Obama didn’t convene the Counterterrorism Security Group which was created to coordinate a response to a terrorist attack, CBS News reported.

Late last week, Obama was twice asked by a Denver TV anchor whether the Americans who requested help during the Benghazi attack were turned down by the chain of command. He didn’t answer.

    3. Why has the Administration’s story about what happened in Benghazi been so unclear?

On 9/12 unnamed Administration officials told Reuters that an al Qaeda regional offshoot and members of Ansar al-Shariah were probably responsible for the attack “It bears the hallmarks of an organized attack…”

The Administration gave a different account saying that the Benghazi attack grew out of a spontaneous demonstration against an anti-Islam video. On 9/14, WH press sec. Carney said, “We don’t have and did not have concrete evidence to suggest that this was not in reaction to the film.”

On CBS’s “Face the Nation,” UN Ambassador Rice contradicted Libya’s President Magarief who said it was a “preplanned” attack by “foreign” terrorists. Rice has since claimed they were merely following “talking points” provided by the “intelligence community.”

The Daily Beast reported that FBI officials who interviewed security officers who worked at the consulate knew as early as September 14 that the attack was no protest.

It took eight days for the Administration to declare that the four Americans “were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our
Embassy,” stated Matt Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center.

Obama is stonewalling Congress and the media to get past Election Day. But the issue will return with a vengeance no matter who is president.

  6. Christina Nuckols | November 3, 2012 at 10:47 am

It was interesting to watch the ebb and flow of letters this year. Obama letters dominated before the first debate, then Romney supporters spiked. Over time, the pro-Obama letters picked up again and outnumbered the GOP letters. It’s not a scientific poll, but speaks to motivation and organization. It’s no surprise that we now hear complaints from those who didn’t write a letter, but the reality is that those who wrote a letter supporting Obama were less likely to see it in print. There were so many, that a large percentage are available only online.

  7. Herb | November 3, 2012 at 11:24 am

#6. That doesnt make sense that most Obama letters were written by those that dont read your print. If thats yhe case then your readership is smaller thrn i thought. No wonder the price of your daily went to a $1. So what is it more Obama supports in the region or just that nobody for Romney writes in 5 days before the electiion. IMO it s neither. So go figure.

  8. John R | November 3, 2012 at 11:46 am

I quit writing letters to the print edition of the RT many years ago after I received an anonymous telephone call concerning one of my letters that appeared in the paper.

I quit reading the print edition of the RT about 5 years ago and have no interest in the letters to the editor feature.

  9. Sandi Saunders | November 3, 2012 at 12:09 pm

She did not say “most Obama letters were written by those that dont read your print”. I do not believe they even check such things, nor make it some criteria to print your letter.

President Obama has always had a dedicated support base and he has maintained that contact and communication and we still write letters supporting him. Not winning the region does not mean he does not get many votes in this region. Look at the numbers.

  10. Sandi Saunders | November 3, 2012 at 12:35 pm

John R, you need to catch up, even your beloved WSJ has finally caught on.

  11. Sandi Saunders | November 3, 2012 at 12:45 pm

I am voting for President Obama because the overwhleming evidence is clear that he has managed the economic crisis as well as it could have been done with the least damage to this nation.

Experts have said this can be a 10 year process. Given that and the CRS report that lowering marginal tax rates for the wealthy had no effect on economic growth or job creation, the economic hatchet men are just plain wrong.

Now is no time to give up on Obama and break in a new president who is literally the biggest flip-flopper we have ever seen. Remember when that mattered to you all?

  12. Scott M. | November 3, 2012 at 2:01 pm

I shouldn’t be surprised but find I am at the number of people here who won’t pay for the RT newspaper but make full use of these message boards. Many of them are the same people who worry about the free-loaders in society while apparently missing the beam in their own eye.

  13. Scott M. | November 3, 2012 at 2:06 pm

The other day we were talking about climate change. For those interested in this issue, I’d like to direct you to this article from the BBC concerning the weather in England.

It’s called global climate change because it effects the world in addition to our little corner of it. It caught my eye because we traditionally think of England as a wet country to begin with. So if they’re worried about flooding, it must be really something.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-20171078

Rivers are full after the wettest April to June on record, followed by more rain in July, September and October.

…The agency warns that people should be ready for floods even with relatively small amounts of rain.

They warn of increased risk of river flooding in November and December, especially in the south-west and northern and western parts of England and Wales.

Sarah Jackson, the Met Office’s chief adviser to the government, said: “We are heading into the winter period which is traditionally the wetter period of the year in the UK.

“Because the ground is so wet, if we do have any prolonged heavy rainfall in any part of the country, there is going to be heightened risk of flooding.”…..

  14. The Other Rick | November 3, 2012 at 3:57 pm

2 – Anytime someone clicks on one of these message board pages (or any other page on roanoke.com which happens to contain advertising), the RT gets a page hit. The ads that are displayed on these pages, are sold on the basis of these page hits. The more page hits you get, the more you can charge for an ad. It’s one of many factors that determine the revenue.

It’s no different than listening to the radio or watching broadcast television. Are you a freeloader for doing that?

Trust me…roanoke.com would not exist if the Times weren’t making money off of it. So spare me the “freeloader” accusation.

I cancelled my subscription to the Times a couple of years ago, because I got tired of seeing unread newspapers piling up in my magazine rack, and knowing my hard earned money was going for something I was getting absolutely no use out of whatsoever. I simply don’t have the time, or the inclination, to read a hard-copy newspaper these days. I get the news I need online and on TV.

  15. The Other Rick | November 3, 2012 at 3:58 pm

My post was in reference to Scott at #12, not #2. Sorry for the typo.

  16. Michael | November 3, 2012 at 4:21 pm

Usually a day or two before it appears in the RT, I might ad.

  17. John R | November 3, 2012 at 4:55 pm

Well finally! The liberal Washington Post now acknowledges and condemns the Benghazi foul up and and subsequent stonewalling by the Administration yesterday in an editorial entitled “Secuity Breakdown in Benghazi”

“While the agencies [CIA, Pentagon] separately defend themselves — or not — the White House appears determined to put off any serious discussion of Benghazi until after the election. Sooner or later, however, the administration must answer questions about what increasingly looks like a major security failure — and about the policies that led to it.”

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-security-breakdown-in-benghazi/2012/11/02/a34b7dd0-250f-11e2-9313-3c7f59038d93_print.html

FOX NEWS persistent investigative reporting of the Benghazi story seems to have struck a nerve even in the liberal media.

I predict that President Romney will have his attorney general appoint an independent investigator and the result will be a black mark on Obama’s one and only term as president rivaling Nixon’s Watergate cover up.

    Obama does not deserve re-elction!

  18. John R | November 3, 2012 at 6:44 pm

    FEMA foul up!

It is being reported that FEMA appears to have been completely unprepared to distribute bottled water to Hurricane Sandy victims. Contrary to its stated policy, FEMA failed to have any meaningful supplies of bottled water or any other supplies stored in nearby facilities as it had proclaimed it would on its website.

FEMA will have no water for the victims of Hurricaine Sandy before Monday! Poor FEMA, it only had over a week to prepare for this disaster.

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/11/02/FEMA-Still-Doesn-t-Have-Bottled-Water-to-Distribute-Finally-Places-Large-Order-Today-for-Delivery-Monday

We each are judged by what is in our hearts and God knows what is really in each of our hearts, that is my faith.

I’m from the government and I’m here to help.

“Fox News reporters have been on the ground talking to many outraged Staten Island residents who say they are not receiving the help they need from FEMA and the Red Cross.”

“The reason why we’re going back to Staten Island and showing you is just that you might hear from officials at FEMA and the administration that everything is fine, that the teams are on the ground and they’re addressing this. They’d be all over it if it were a Republican in office. Non-stop.

  31. Sandi Saunders | November 4, 2012 at 12:10 pm

What faith teaches that God wants us to care for the sick, widowed, elderly, poor and helpless; to fight for justice, equality and right, but wants a government that doesn’t? In what realm does that even make sense. Were the “good” rulers in the Bible good because they loved power and ignored suffering or because they heard God and helped their people? What made a bad ruler, even then? Do some of you read the same Bible I do?

Jesus never said, “I got mine, you are on your own”. Jesus never said, “horde your wealth and watch people suffer”. Jesus never said, my role “is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” He just never did.

Maybe we should leave Jesus out of this?

  32. Michael | November 4, 2012 at 1:06 pm

#1 – “Maybe we should leave Jesus out of this?”

Sure, why not? Your side wants to take God out of our lives anyway…

  33. jerome | November 4, 2012 at 1:48 pm

#31 I am surprised that you would even mention God in your statements. Lets not forget that the liberal party you so dearly support took God out of the democrat convention and booed after the vote when clearly the Dems overwhelmingly voted against it, but true to their ways lied and said the yeas have it. Your party is the reason we can no longer say Christmas, Easter or make any relevance out of true christian holidays.

  34. John R | November 4, 2012 at 4:12 pm

Getting back to FEMA and the failings of big government…

“FEMA spent $878 million on prefabricated homes after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, then allowed thousands of them to rot in storage lots because the agency’s own regulations prohibited them from being used in flood plains such as Louisiana’s. The agency also spent as much as $416,000 per family to house some families temporarily in the wake of Katrina.”

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204846304578090873245350506.html?mod=WSJ_article_MoreIn_Opinion

FEMA has a centralized “command and control” approach to disaster relief. Its attitude is that only the experts in Washington, not state and local officials, or private charities, know best how to respond to local needs.

Big government is not the same as effective government. This is true with disaster relief as much as anything else. The federal government should supplement state and local agencies with additional funding as needed, not take their place.

  35. Sandi Saunders | November 4, 2012 at 5:12 pm

    Oh please.

God is important to many liberals like me. The teachings of Jesus do not direct me to support leaders who do not follow that same teaching. You tell me where you get the idea we should?

FEMA is not going anywhere. Like any large agency, they have hits and misses and the ones you list were under a president you supported.

“Effective” will always be an eye of the beholder, but federal resources have to come into play when such massive destruction hits. No state could do this alone.

  36. Art Hill | November 4, 2012 at 5:36 pm

Yes, John R. As Colbert so succinctly put it, “no one is in a better position to respond to a disaster than a state who’s infrastructure has just been washed out to sea.”

  37. jerome | November 4, 2012 at 6:20 pm

#35 I appreciate the fact that you are religious and support the teachings of Jesus. A agree that we should all try our best to help support those less fortunate. The way I see it is that this support is between me and God.

With that said, you say “the teachings of Jesus do not direct me to support leaders who do follow that same teaching”. Please read my message again. Your party had taken God out of the convention and then when it came to a vote, basically voted to keep it out if it wasn’t for a moderator who lied. How can you support these leaders? I don’t understand at all?

  38. Sandi Saunders | November 4, 2012 at 8:49 pm

You are, (I see a pattern forming) wrong again jerome. We did not take “God out of the convention” nor out of the Platform. That too is a right wing meme. The wording about human potential being “God-given” had been dropped because we acknowledged that there are many agnostic and atheist Americans who do not appreciate that language. Backing down on that tiny change due to right wing lies saying we had “taken God out of the convention”, caused many to boo the capitulation, not the reversion.

Our Platform specifically says: “Faith has always been a central part of the American story, and it has been a driving force of progress and justice throughout our history. We know that our nation, our communities, and our lives are made vastly stronger and richer by faith and the countless acts of justice and mercy it inspires. Faith- based organizations will always be critical allies in meeting the challenges that face our nation and our world – from domestic and global poverty, to climate change and human trafficking. People of faith and religious organizations do amazing work in communities across this country and the world, and we believe in lifting up and valuing that good work, and finding ways to support it where possible.” NO ONE booed or tried to change that!

I support these leaders because however fallible and human they may be, it IS keeping with the teachings of Jesus for the rulers/leaders to care about and help the sick, widowed, elderly, poor, orphaned and helpless; to fight for justice, equality and right. You cannot support those things and support a government that doesn’t IMO.

I am taking Billy Graham’s advice and I am most assuredly voting “Biblical Values” on Tuesday, for Barack Obama!

  39. Will | November 4, 2012 at 9:03 pm

    JohnR…

If there is a God…and trust me, after seeing the devastation and destruction caused by last week’s weather and watching people like young children die with disease like cancer and members of my own family die with it I seriously question the existence of the deity, I doubt he/she has time for our petty political motivations.

Michael…you are perfectly free to pray anywhere you want. School children have been known to do it for years before, during and after exams or after misbehaving.

As for this Merry Christmas crock that has been manufactured as some kind of abomination…I have been saying Happy Holidays for years to people instead of Merry Christmas…the reason being that I was taught to be respectful of those who may not necessarily celebrate Christmas but perhaps do celebrate some other religious holiday.

It can only adversely affect you if you choose to let it do so and if you do, it shows me someone who is weak in spirit for themselves…not anyone else.

  40. Art Hill | November 4, 2012 at 10:10 pm

I used to think highly of the Reverend Billy Graham. Now, not so much.

  41. John R | November 4, 2012 at 10:23 pm

#38 Sandi, “I am most assuredly voting “Biblical Values” on Tuesday, for Barack Obama!”

Does that include such passages as Jeremiah 1:5?

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

    Or maybe Psalm 139:13?

“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.”

    Or Ecclesiastes 11:5?

“As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.”

The best advice is to vote your conscious and not exalt yourself by claiming you are voting for the way of the Lord.

“Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:2

  42. Sandi Saunders | November 4, 2012 at 10:37 pm

I think Rev. Graham has been manipulated by his son the opportunist. It was not something I think the Rev. Graham would ever have done if he was in his right mind. His legacy has always mattered to him.

  43. John R | November 4, 2012 at 11:02 pm

#39 Will “…after seeing the devastation and destruction…I seriously question the existence of the deity…”

We as mortals do not know God’s mind or why bad things happen to good people.

During such tragedies, many are brought closer to God and many reach out to help their neighbors and give of themselves to help others in need. People from around the world gave to help the victims.

I am sure there were hundreds of small miracles from God during the storm. And maybe the world will in time be a better place because of it.

It is not our place to question the will of God.

  44. The Other Rick | November 5, 2012 at 6:31 am

So, Billy Graham is obviously not “in his right mind” because he endorsed Romney? And this endorsement tarnishes his legacy? Please.

  45. Michael | November 5, 2012 at 7:48 am

#40 – “I used to think highly of the Reverend Billy Graham. Now, not so much.”

The same way you “used” to be a Republican?

    O-kay…

  46. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 8:33 am

Did Graham take out such an ad before and I just missed it?

  47. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 8:47 am

It is not myself I ever “exalt” John R. I follow my conscience and what I believe to be the teachings of Jesus and God.

God creates all living things, including humans, plants and animals. God is omniscient, that means God knows whether anyone will live or die. I think it is judgmental and dishonest to say that a fetus is a human being or deserving of more protection than the woman carrying it.

What about this? “Cursed be the day on which I was born! The day when my mother bore me, let it not be blessed! Cursed be the man who brought the news to my father, ‘A son is born to you’, making him very glad. Let that man be like the cities which the Lord overthrew without pity; let him hear a cry in the morning and an alarm at noon, because he did not kill me in the womb; so my mother would have been my grave, and her womb for ever great. Why did I come forth from the womb to see toil and sorrow, and spend my days in shame?” (Jeremiah 20:14-18)

Want more? ““If a man begets a hundred children, and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but he does not enjoy life’s good things, and also has no burial, I say that an untimely birth is better off than he. For it comes into vanity and goes into darkness, and in darkness its name is covered; moreover it has not seen the sun or known anything; yet it finds rest rather than he.” (Ecclesiastes 6:3-5)

“Or why was I not as a hidden untimely birth, as infants that never see the light? There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary are at rest. There the prisoners are at ease together; they hear not the voice of the taskmaster. The small and the great are there, and the slave is free from his master.” (Job 3:16-19)

“The wicked go astray from the womb, they err from their birth, speaking lies. They have venom like the venom of a serpent. … Let them vanish like water that runs away, like grass let them be trodden down and wither. Let them be like the snail which dissolves into slime, like the untimely birth that never sees the sun.” (Psalms 58:3-8)

There is this passage in Exodus 21:22-25, which directly addresses a fetus too:

“When men strive together, and hurt a woman with child, so that there is miscarriage, and yet no harm follows, the one who hurt her shall be fined according as the woman’s husband shall lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. If any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”

I’ll stop now with this: “She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” John 8:11

I can do this all day long. My conscience is clear, so is my God. It is HIS to choose, it is HIS to know. It is not ours.

  48. The Other Rick | November 5, 2012 at 10:53 am

46 – I don’t know if he did or not. Personally, I don’t care. This endorsement will have no negative influence on this man’s incredible legacy, except among hyper-partisan Obama-supporting libs.

And to insiunate this shows Graham is not “in his right mind”? And despite all the great things he has done with his life…all of a sudden, certain people don’t think “so highly of him” because of this? Get real.

  49. b.o.h.i.c.a. | November 5, 2012 at 11:10 am

“Graham has repeatedly been on Gallup’s list of most admired men and women. He has appeared on the list 55 times since 1955 (including 49 consecutive years), more than any other individual in the world”

“As of 2008, Graham’s estimated lifetime audience, including radio and television broadcasts, topped 2.2 billion”

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Graham#Pastor_to_presidents

I’m sure he won’t miss a few libs that now disapprove of him.

John R, buddy, I’ve seen plenty abut the problems on Staten Island, and not just from Fox “News,” since I try to stay away from Fox “News.” Why in the heck do you continue to make up stuff like the “liberal” media won’t report this? What is the use?

#34 Gosh, John R, I see that you’ve just sort of dropped the whole FEMA water thing. I wonder why?

And finally, I thought individuals were supposed to step up and take care of this stuff themselves. Be prepared, evacuate, pull yourself up by your bootstraps. What’s this whining about FEMA?

  51. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 12:40 pm

Rev. Graham is 94 years old and he has never done such an open embrace for a candidate before. I do not care what you say, it is suspicious and uncharacteristic of a man who has prayed with and for every president in modern times. Up until this candidate the Grahams had identified Mormonism as a “cult”. Quite the switcheroo.

  52. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 12:48 pm

b.o.h.i.c.a. I believe you miss my point. No one, Graham included will miss the libs who see this for what it is. What about the Independents and Moderates who believe it is taking this too far? Ever think they might be put off by such a blatant and uncharacteristic thing in the name of such a revered and feeble icon?

Romney has played to the lowest common denominator and it is pretty low. I think the votes will reflect that tomorrow.

  53. 89Hoo | November 5, 2012 at 12:54 pm

Didn’t Billy Graham announce that he forgave Bill Clinton his philandering, and that he though Hilary would make a wonderful President? I may be misremembering. He (Graham) is and always has been more celebrity than evangelist.

  54. b.o.h.i.c.a. | November 5, 2012 at 1:09 pm

“Up until this candidate the Grahams had identified Mormonism as a “cult”

You mean, they might be evolving, going FORWARD? Oh wait, only obama can use those words when he flip-flops.

    “lowest common denominator”
Yes, I know, Gov. Romney is trying to get some lib votes too!

  55. The Other Rick | November 5, 2012 at 1:16 pm

51 – Well, considering the church our current POTUS sat in for 20 years (before he threw the “Reverend” under the bus)…perhaps the Grahams view Mormonism a little more faborable in comparison to BLT? Just a thought.

Oh, and let’s not forget Obama’s flip-flop on gay marriage. Not exactly a popular stance among evangelicals.

Somehow, I don’t see independents or moderates being that “put off” by this. The man has every right to express his opinion, just like the rest of us.

  56. The Other Rick | November 5, 2012 at 1:17 pm

Make that “a little more favorable” in my last post.

  57. b.o.h.i.c.a. | November 5, 2012 at 1:44 pm

    “feeble icon” Really?

“Ageist language demeans a person based on a his or her age. Stereotypes casting old people as feeble and cranky and teen-agers as irresponsible and inarticulate are not only insulting, they are often inaccurate”

“Write about people as individuals, not as representatives of, or exceptions to, their age group”

  58. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 2:16 pm

That is truly the beauty of sight and comprehension, we are all free to see things as we like. I do not think this was Billy Graham’s choice. I do not believe that he no longer thinks Mormonism is a cult. I do not think his advertisement will help Romney. Your POV is yours, mine is mine.

  59. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 2:18 pm

Every description of Graham generally mentions his frail condition. YOUR own description of his reach defines “icon”, and I think the evidence is clear that he is indeed feeble and old.

  60. 89Hoo | November 5, 2012 at 2:25 pm

…this whole discussion illustrations why preachers should not engage in politicking…

  61. John R | November 5, 2012 at 3:13 pm

#50 gdad The report that FEMA ran out of water in Staten Island till today, Monday, is still out there but the liberal media ignores it.

“FEMA ran out of potable water to hand out to the trapped and powerless Saturday — the agency hadn’t ordered more until late Friday, so new shipments aren’t expected until Monday at the earliest.” (The Washington Times by: Joseph Curl, Sunday, November 4, 2012)

You will not find it in the news sources you seem to favor. That doesn’t mean it’s not true. But then liberals prefer to believe the Obama administration could do no wrong.

Why don’t you do a search and give me a source that indicates this story in not true? I’ll be waiting!

  62. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 3:27 pm

And “finding” it in the news sources you seem to favor doesn’t mean it’s true either.

  63. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 3:36 pm

Through distribution centers in Atlanta, Ga. and Frederick, Md., FEMA maintains commodities, including millions of liters of water, millions of meals and hundreds of thousands of blankets. As of last evening, more than 305,000 liters of water and more than 185,000 meals in staging at Incident Support Bases in Westover, MA and Lakehurst, NJ, have been transferred to states to supplement their existing inventory. The Incident Support Bases continue to be restocked in anticipation of additional requests for assistance from affected states.

  64. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 3:38 pm

    Agreed 89Hoo #60.

  65. Michael | November 5, 2012 at 3:42 pm

Yeah, JohnR, you know how it’s all lies…unless it comes from (insert your favorite Liberal media source here).

  66. Michael | November 5, 2012 at 3:59 pm

#63 – That shows that supplies have been staged…NOT that they are where they are needed.

  67. Sandi Saunders | November 5, 2012 at 4:47 pm

And what pray tell in right wing media proves water is not where it is needed?

  68. Michael | November 5, 2012 at 6:03 pm

#67 – Nothing proves anything, when one source says FEMA ran out of water where it’s needed, and another says it’s staged where it’s NOT needed, then yes, I’ll believe the source that says FEMA screwed up. FEMA’s record isn’t very stellar, after all.

  69. The Other Rick | November 5, 2012 at 6:28 pm

68 – From what I’ve been reading, hearing and seeing…the conditions in NY and NJ are as bad as they were after Katrina. In some ways, even worse – colder weather, no heat due to lack of power…

Funny how Bush was raked over the coals by libs and the media (who gave no blame to the Dem mayor and governor who really deserved it)…

Obama gets to drop in, do his little photo op, then head right back out on the campaign trail…and everything’s just hunky dory in liberal land.

  70. Art Hill | November 5, 2012 at 9:53 pm

Nate Silver now gives President Obama an 86% chance of re-election. Hope you Rightwingers have re-upped your meds. Happy voting, all!

  71. Michael | November 6, 2012 at 7:13 am

#71 – “Hope you Rightwingers have re-upped your meds.”

Actually, Art, it’s the lefties that support Obama who are off of theirs.

  72. The Other Rick | November 6, 2012 at 7:25 am

I think Nate Silver may be indulging in too many meds, if he thinks Obama has that big a chance of re-election.

The polls are virtually neck and neck…and many of them are underestimating the enthusiasm on the right this year. I predict a lot of surprises this evening.

  73. Michael | November 6, 2012 at 7:37 am

50 people already in line at the polling place this morning when I arrived at 5:50. Overheard a lot of talk about how bad Obama has been, which surprised me since voters in my area supported Obama four years ago.

I agree, Rick, I think the left is in for a surprise tonight.

  74. Sandi Saunders | November 6, 2012 at 8:02 am

Yeah I’m sure we are. There would be a big surprise in losing to an inferior candidate. That has just never happened before….oh wait. If Romney wins, the left is in for no surprises, but America sure is.

  75. gdad | November 6, 2012 at 9:09 am

Hmm, I wonder who sent out the orders to the right wing start badmouthing Obama for showing up at the disaster site?

Yes, things are bad in parts of NJ and NY in particular, and no matter what anybody does it will be bad for a while to come. We saw New Orleans 8 months after the hurricane and things were still bad.

  76. JimW | November 6, 2012 at 9:14 am

70…LOL Art, I hope you like Crow.

  77. JimW | November 6, 2012 at 9:16 am

    74. Yep Sandi, when Romney wins, America will be very surprised at how great it can be again and how bad the Obama years actually were. It will be a good surprise.

  78. The Other Rick | November 6, 2012 at 9:53 am

75 – Your side sure didn’t wait 8 months after Katrina to attack Bush though, did you? Hell no. The left was on his butt from day one…even before – the narrative was in place before Katrina even struck.

People are suffering as bad, or worse, than back then. Bush was vilified by the libs and the media, but Obama gets a pass.

  79. Michael | November 6, 2012 at 10:08 am

#78 – “The left was on his butt from day one…”

While being very quiet on the failures of Nagle and Blanco.
