How Ferris saved Mill Mountain

In Roanoke, they say, the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes that day.

In laying out his holiday ties, Councilman Ray Ferris asked his wife for advice as to whether he ought to wear the Grinch tie to the Roanoke City Council meeting.

He relayed her response: “‘Ray, the writing’s on the wall. Everyone already knows you are the Grinch.’” A wise woman, Mrs. Ferris.
