Making health care a priority

Virginia Democrats recognize that most Virginians want affordable health care, and they’re ready to fight for it.

Virginia House Democrats have pledged to fight to bring health care reform to Virginia. It’s a good fight, an essential fight. One worth having again, and again — which, indeed, likely will be necessary.

Republicans, who now have a majority in the House, control the tied Senate thanks to Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling’s vote and hold the governor’s mansion, outnumber Democrats by more than 2-to-1 in the House of Delegates. And Republicans are dead set against Obamacare.

The GOTP plan for Virginians is ‘don’t get sick’, ‘don’t get old’, and most certainly don’t look to them for help.

According to todays article, Insight Imaging tried to `CUT COSTS`…costing a man his life…Welcome to Obamacare.

    1984
    Knockin’ on your door
    Will you let it come?
Will you let it run your life?

Someone will be waiting for you at your door
    When you get home tonight
Ah yes, he’s gonna tell you darkness gives you much more
Than you get from the light

Lyrics from 1984, by Spirit (1970). Why is it that when we protested against governmental power and over-reach in the 60s and 70s, it’s suddenly okay now? I’m confused.

There is no more effective way to influence what we eat and how much, what we drive and where, where we live and for how long, and how much power we use and how it is generated, than by giving government control over our health care. We are inching towards a government-run, single-payer system. Oh–and it has already become obvious that religious convictions have no place in this scheme.

Jeff Doto, not that it is anything new for you, but your insult is patently false and unfair. The corners cut by Insight Imaging have nothing to do with “Obamacare”.

Religious convictions of one person over another have no place in the United States of America. If you do not want the government deciding your health care insurance coverage, why do you want your employer’s religious convictions to do so?

No one is “giving government control over our health care”. This is insurance reform, not government health care.

Sandi, the Democrat/Obama plan for America is: Don’t look for a job, don’t work, don’t buy health insurance – the working rich (all GOTPs of course) will pay higher taxes so that you can get everything you want from the government.

  7. Sandi Saunders | December 28, 2012 at 11:35 am

Given the GOTP fight against making anyone buy health insurance, you might want to look at that statement again, alan. It is as wrong as the rest of it.

Doesnt matter, when we fall of this fiscal cliff, which I am so hopeing for, congress wont be able to fund Obamacare. So good luck.
Stay the course Democrats and in 2 yrs I hope you know how to speak Chinese.

So tell me again how adding 1 million people into Virginia health care without adding any doctors, nurses, or medical facilities is going to work??

  10. Sandi Saunders | December 28, 2012 at 12:47 pm

First, tell me again how leaving 1 million Virginians out of health care is going to work?

  11. Sandi Saunders | December 28, 2012 at 12:55 pm

I have no real doubt that this irresponsible GOTP stifled Congress might take us over the so called “Fiscal Cliff” but that will hurt your cause a lot worse than mine fellas. It is a LOT harder restoring defense cuts and tax cuts than stopping them from happening. I am all for you driving us over the cliff and learning to live with your comeuppance. Do not think I will lobby to stop them. The poor and the working poor have struggled for all of their lives. The middle class has been squeezed for well over a decade. Let the rest of the sacred cows join us. It so works for me.

Oh and while you are at it, be sure to refuse to compromise over the debt-limit too. A first ever US default will be just what your party needs to be held responsible for to end this madness. The downgrade in status was not enough for you apparently. Make Obama legend! I love it.

  13. 89Hoo | December 28, 2012 at 1:12 pm

The tragic thing about the “debt ceiling” is that it is already a sham. Washington is essentially saying, “We’ve already put $16T charged to credit cards that we cannot pay back. If we don’t get another credit line for $100B or so (the exact number is irrelevant) we’re going to be broke and won’t be able to pay our debts.

News Flash: you’re already broke and you have already defaulted on your debt.

    Sandi,
Not going to hurt me. Going to hurt all the one that voted for Obama.
No jobs, no inemployement chec, charity giving WAY down, hospital waits longer, food stamps and medicare and medicaid lowered.
None of this will effect me. Not one bit. Job extremely secure and growing, financial well off with enough in actual gold and fisical money. So this is going to hurt no one worse then the give me’s. Go for it it I say. Things will drop I will then buy.

  15. Herb | December 28, 2012 at 2:32 pm

p.s Leaving them out of health care means more time money can buy.

  16. gdad | December 29, 2012 at 8:52 am

“According to todays article, Insight Imaging tried to `CUT COSTS`…costing a man his life…Welcome to Obamacare.”

That was even more off than most of your posts, Doto. Are you claiming that health care companies and insurance companies NEVER cut corners before Obama came along?

I’m sure you’ll be back to answer.

  17. Sandi Saunders | December 29, 2012 at 2:28 pm

Herb, you are in for a rude awakening IMO. I have never felt that you knew how things connect and you have now removed all doubt. Blaming Obama voters, or wishing them ill is just plain childish.

#17 – “Blaming Obama voters, or wishing them ill is just plain childish.”

I don’t wish them ill. But I will smile when they realize what they’ve done to themselves.
