Twice blessed

Sometimes it is as blessed to receive as to give — as in the case of the $1 million gift the Free Clinic of Franklin County received just before Christmas from Northern Virginia philanthropists Guy and Betty Beatty.

Breaking the chains on the 21-day rule

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, Johnathan Montgomery’s case drew public outrage and calls for reforms. Physically, Montgomery is now a free man, but legally he’s still bound by rules that make it difficult for those wrongfully convicted in Virginia to receive justice.

Good (perhaps fleeting) economic news

The U.S. Labor Department reports that the number of Americans applying for first-time unemployment benefits has dropped to its lowest level since March 2008. The 350,000 individuals seeking aid in the third week of December represents a decline of 12,000 applications compared to the prior week.

You know, I wonder where the heck John R disappeared to. I suggested long before the election that he was here only as a Republican shill, possibly even a paid one. He denied it, but lo and behold, election over, John R long gone.

I believe he was a local not any “paid shill”, but I think he was so invested in Romney that he is too disgusted to come back. I mean, if he gave up blogging for Lent, he obviously took this very seriously.

It’s a well known fact the GOP pays bloggers to troll the boards. We’ll never know for certain about John R. but I noticed that too, and it is quite the coincidence.

    #3…Well known fact ? Prove it.(Thats what I thought)

Mr. Doto, please see the link. Certainly dated evidence but I wouldn’t go so far as saying it’s proof.

I’m not sure why my second comment on this topic got rejected but let me try again. I think I know who John R is, and I don’t actually believe he was a paid shill. It’s just that his comments were so over-the-top partisan.

Doto, anybody with a lick of sense knows that both parties pay people to monitor and comment on the Internet.

I allowed the first comment on this thread but probably should not have done so, since it goes beyond wondering about an individual’s whereabous and ventures into speculating about his actions/motivations. I realize comments to that effect were allowed months ago. Anyway, my bad. Let’s move on to other topics. Thanks.
