An attack ad diet

Sen.-elect Tim Kaine has an excellent suggestion for 2013 gubernatorial candidates as they compile their New Year’s resolutions: Keep your political ads positive.

All 8 million Virginians will be happy to echo Kaine’s advice after having been pummeled with nasty commercials for much of 2012. 

Perriello’s political future

Former 5th District Rep. Tom Perriello, a potential contender for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, put any talk of that to rest this week with a post on the Blue Virginia blog stating, “I do not feel called to serve in elected office at this time, but I do not need to have my name on the ballot to be part of the fight.” 

Still inconvenient, still true

Speaking of progressive politicians who would rather be right than win elections, former Vice President Al Gore had a few choice words about global warming for President Obama this week while speaking to the New York League of Conservation Voters, newly sensitized by Superstorm Sandy to the growing threat from storm surges that accompanies climate change.
