Seriously, don’t take this too seriously
Sometimes when we publish a satirical editorial, essay or letter, we are tempted to plaster a warning label on top — “Satire Alert” — or at the very least a closing line — “It’s a joke, people.” To be honest, though, sometimes we receive letters to the editor and aren’t exactly sure. That’s the trouble with the written word. Unless laced with silly emoticons or a parenthetical (wink, wink), it isn’t always easy to sniff out when the writer is pulling your leg. …
