Virginia doesn’t need 140 governors
A proposed constitutional amendment would let legislators circumvent the regulatory process.
We had a long list of reasons why uranium mining in Virginia is a bad idea. Thanks to Dels.Greg Habeeb and Chris Head, we can add one more.
The delegates are trying to amend the state constitution to give the General Assembly the authority to undermine the normal regulatory process.

I agree with this editorial.
I do have one question, though, for those more versed in the Virginia Constitution than I am: does the Virginia Supreme Court have the powers parallel to its counterparts in Washington? In other words, if a legislator (or group of legislators) objects to a particular executive enforcement mechanism – whether a regulation, tax, what have you – can it appeal the constitutionality of the mechanism to the Va Supreme Court? Similarly, if the governor objects to a law coming out of the Va Legislature, can he appeal to the Va Supreme Court?
Shame on the delegates(unless of course, they are Democrats).
