A lukewarm toast to 2013
Congress avoided the fiscal cliff, but real solutions remain just out of reach.
Congress did not kick off 2013 with a visionary deal to address the nation’s deficit and long-term debt. Instead, it squeaked past the fiscal cliff of automatic tax increases with a half-hearted stopgap measure that delays tough decisions needed for essential structural reforms.
