Dragas remains an effective leader for UVa
By Marvin Gilliam Jr.
After reading your editorial of Dec. 27 (“Helen Dragas should resign”), I must respectfully disagree with your declaration that Helen Dragas should resign.
I further disagree with your untenable assertion that she is not, and cannot in the future be, an effective leader of the University of Virginia Board of Visitors and a progressive voice on behalf of the university. Quite to the contrary, she has demonstrated a remarkable capacity to serve effectively and productively despite being publicly singled out for what was a collective action by the board of visitors in June.
Gilliam, of Bristol, is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in economics, a member of the board of visitors and has served on various university-affiliated boards.

There’s a new “theory” out about why Helen Dragas was so keen to remove UVa president Sullivan.
Can you say ClimateGate??

Oh, Oh…..Mr. Gilliam, the author of this article made his considerable fortune in coal. Perhaps a conflict of interests?
