If you don’t like / agree with something, then of course it’s “dumb” or “terrible.” And if “everybody knows” the gas tax needs raising, why has Richmond been unable to do that the last few years. I am guessing that not “everybody” is in agreement with that policy. Perhaps some are, maybe the majority, but certainly not everybody.

I’m beginning to think McDonnell is just trying to use an idea he knows is highly unlikely to pass to distract folks from what just about everybody knows needs to be done — raise the gas user fee. He’s going to leave office not having made a dent in his biggest promise — addressing the transportation funding problem.
