Farewell to the region’s most valuable player

Ray Smoot is Southwest Virginia’s MVP. His vision and, more important, the ability to execute his vision created opportunity for the residents of this region, as well as the entire commonwealth, for more than 40years.
Upon his recent retirement from the Virginia Tech Foundation and subsequent induction into the Southwest Virginia Business Hall of Fame, Smoot certainly deserved, but did not seek, the many accolades he received.
Boone, of Roanoke, is a managing member of Boone Graham Thomas Homebuilders and a director of Carilion Clinic. He’s also president of Boone Homes Inc.
